This 7 1/2" Green Man was designed and produced in our shop in West Gardiner Maine by Jim. The walnut wood was hand selected for its beauty and energy, especially with that combination of the chocolatey heart wood and creamy sapwood. The finish is Odie's all natural hard wax oil for a chemical free, all natural finished product! It measures about 3/4" deep and 7 1/2" tall.
*** Note that there is a blemish on the back of this carving. This happened during the cutting process and can be seen in the picture of the back. It has no impact on the display side and, honestly, this wood was in such short supply and is so beautiful I couldn't bring myself to scrap it. The price was reduced to reflect the flaw.***
For our ancient ancestors, many spirits and deities were associated with nature, wildlife, and plant growth. After all, if you had just spent the winter starving and freezing, when spring arrived it was certainly time to give thanks to whatever spirits watched over your tribe. The spring season, particularly around Beltane, is typically tied to a number of pre-Christian nature spirits. In English folklore, few characters stand out as much–or are as recognizable–as the Green Man.
Strongly connected to Jack in the Green and the May King, as well as John Barleycorn during the fall harvest, the figure known as the Green Man is a god of vegetation and plant life. He symbolizes the life that is found in the natural plant world, and in the earth itself.
Each piece is crafted by the skilled pagan artisans of Aeon Moon to meet your needs. Whether your path is pagan, wiccan, eclectic or whatever, Aeon Moon products are made with energetic care and all natural materials.
